MUSCAT: Oman's natural gas production, including domestic output and imports, increased 6.7 per cent in the first half of 2026 to 29.54 billion cubic metres, driven by higher production of non-associated gas and stronger demand from industry and power generation.

National Centre for Statistics and Information data showed associated gas production rose 5.6 per cent to 6.60 billion cubic metres, while non-associated gas, including imports, increased 7.0 per cent to 22.94 billion cubic metres.

Industrial projects remained the largest consumers of natural gas, with usage rising 7.5 per cent to 14.86 billion cubic metres.

Gas consumption by electricity generation plants increased 13.7 per cent to 8.28 billion cubic metres.

Consumption in oil fields, including operational losses and shrinkage, fell 2.3 per cent to 6.31 billion cubic metres.

Gas use in industrial areas, including industrial estates and Oman LNG operations, declined 29.6 per cent to 95.8 million cubic metres from 136 million cubic metres a year earlier. — ONA
